765 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Prime Minister: What departmental and staffing resources, if any, will be made available to the Minister for the South Island?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: The Department of Internal Affair’s Ministerial Services Group supports me in my capacity as Minister Responsible for Ministerial Services. This support includes providing staff to support each member of the Executive to discharge their Ministerial responsibilities. The Hon James Meager will be allocated up to four Ministerial staff members to support the Minister across all portfolios. This allocation is consistent with other staffing numbers for Ministers outside of Cabinet. Additionally, Portfolio Private Secretaries are seconded from relevant Government agencies to support the Minister’s portfolio activities. Currently, there is one Portfolio Private Secretary assigned to the Hon James Meager to support him in his capacity as Minister for the South Island.
