693 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Does he agree with the Chair of Kāinga Ora that the over 600 Official Information Act requests received by Kāinga Ora each year are mostly fishing for “a gotcha story” and if not, why not?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it takes its responsibilities under the Official Information Act 1982 seriously, which includes reporting to the Public Service Commission, proactive release of responses, and regular engagement with the Ombudsman’s office. In the six months to June 2025, Kāinga Ora responded to over 600 requests under the Official Information Act 1982. These requests were from members of the public, the media, the opposition, and interest groups.
