662 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister of Local Government: How will the ‘strict water quality standards’ as noted in the Local Water Done Well policy differ, if at all, from current water quality standards set out in the Water Services (Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand) Regulations 2022?

Hon Simeon Brown: Taumata Arowai, through the the Water Services Act 2021, is responsible for developing regulatory instruments which ensures strict water quality standards are upheld as specified in our Local Water Done Well policy. I expect these rules and responsibilities to continue evolving to ensure New Zealanders have access to safe, reliable drinking water sources.
