657 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: What work has Kāinga Ora undertaken in the past 12 months with the Department of Corrections on programmes, initiatives or system settings that affect mutual customers or pathways into and out of social housing?

Hon Tama Potaka: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it has a range of connections with other government agencies at various levels, including through policy teams, and regularly engages on work either organisation has underway. Some of this work may relate directly to mutual tenants and pathways into or out of social housing, while other activity is much broader; for example, the New Zealand Disability Strategy with the Ministry of Disabled People. In some instances, these connections, particularly those related to system settings, may be formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding. At a regional level, Kāinga Ora front line teams may connect with other government agencies with regionally specific matters relating to mutual customers.
