656 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: What was the total value of redevelopment write-offs and impairments for one-off write-off costs for Kāinga Ora projects not proceeding and why did these projects not proceed?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me the total value of redevelopment write-offs from the 2024/25 pipeline review was $158 million. This reflects sunk costs from early scoping and planning work undertaken on the projects no longer proceeding. This amount was $137.2 million above that budgeted for write-offs in 2024/25.
