639 (2024). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Finance: When was the Cabinet Paper that looks at allowing more overseas investment for build-to-rent housing commissioned?

Hon Chris Bishop: The Coalition Government announced our 100-day plan on 29 November 2023, which included a commitment to “take policy decisions to amend the Overseas Investment Act 2005 to make it easier for build to rent housing to be developed in New Zealand”. I provided Treasury officials with direction on my preferred legislative approach to delivering this commitment on 19 December 2023.
