635 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many new homes, if any, could be enabled on land developed by Kāinga Ora through its urban development activities in each of the past five financial years and how do those figures break down by development location?
Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it does not record the number of homes that could have been enabled through its urban development activities. Kāinga Ora also advises me that in 2024/25, Large Scale Projects (LSPs) enabled 1,232 homes and developed 7.6 hectares of land. Since the LSPs began, 133 hectares of land has been redeveloped by Kāinga Ora and 27 additional hectares of land are currently funded to be redeveloped. This period has also seen 6,617 social, affordable or market homes enabled.
