618 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Further to his reply to Question 57396 (2025), why did Kāinga Ora decide to sell over 40 Mount Roskill properties as part of its “Other vacant land sales" and why was that property originally purchased by Kāinga Ora?
Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that the 40 Mount Roskill sales were of vacant land through the Urban Development and Delivery Team and were not as “other vacant land sales”. These sales are part of the large-scale development that has transformed parts of Mount Roskill and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Old state homes were removed to provide land parcels, and the land was remediated and new infrastructure built. These land parcels are either used to build new state homes on, or are sold to private developers, or community housing providers, for market or community housing.
