Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister of Finance: Further to 214, what proportion respectively are the estimated additional emissions of around 3.0 Mt CO2-e over the second emissions budget period (2026-2030) and 4.0 Mt CO2-e over the third emissions budget period (2031-2035) of the emissions reductions expected to come from energy and industry in each of the budget periods?

Hon Nicola Willis: 3.0 MT CO2-e is approximately 37% of the emissions reductions expected from energy and industry for the second emissions budget period. 4.0 MT CO2-e is approximately 22% of the emissions reductions expected from energy and industry for the third emissions budget period. Estimates of expected emissions reductions from energy and industry are based on projections published by the Ministry for the Environment in 2022 for the Technical Annex to the first Emissions Reduction Plan. We plan to seek further advice on whether any additional actions may be needed to achieve our emissions budgets as part of the development of the second Emissions Reduction Plan.
