545 (2026). Hon Carmel Sepuloni to the Associate Minister of Education: Further to his answer to written question 58692 (2025): is there any occasion where he would be sufficiently concerned regarding the quality of a charter school application, or the character of the applicants, that he would intervene in the process, if so, what would those concerns need to relate to?
Hon David Seymour: The Charter School Authorisation Board makes decisions on individual applications. However, consistent with my responsibilities, if I were to become aware of information that raised serious concerns about applicant integrity, safety risks, or non‑compliance with legal obligations, I would seek advice and consider whether intervention was warranted under the relevant legislative and public‑interest frameworks.
