502 (2026). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Corrections: Relating to the 24% increase of incarcerated women between September 2024 - September 2025, how many of the 163 added prisoners are: - primary caregivers; - pregnant or mothers of young children; and - remanded rather than sentenced?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that information on the number of women in prison who are primary caregivers, pregnant or mothers of young children, is not centrally recorded. To provide this information would require officials to undertake substantial collation and manual analysis, which I am not prepared to ask for the purposes of this response. However, I am advised that between September 2024 and September 2025, there were 46 more women remanded in custody.
