487 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education
Written Question

487 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: Further to 54481 (2025), does the Ministry of Education currently have a process for reviews of offers for survivors who are unhappy with their offer of financial redress; if so, what is this?
Hon Erica Stanford: Currently, the Ministry of Education will review the outcome of a claim if new allegations are made or if further information is provided which was not previously considered. The review of a claim and any additional information follows the same internal review, approval and sign-out process as the standard claims process. This is detailed in my response to written parliamentary question 53856 (2025).
The Redress Implementation Plan, published in August 2025, includes the development and introduction of a new review function independent of redress agencies where survivors who are unhappy with the outcome of their claim can seek a review before accepting a settlement offer. This new function is expected to be implemented this year.
