462 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Police: What actions, if any, has the Minister's departments or agencies, if any, made in implementing the updated Flexible Working (Work From Home) Guidance?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Police has received and noted Te Kawa Mataaho’s guidance on Flexible Working (Work From Home). Police’s existing employment agreements/policy additionally refer to the statutory Employment Relations Act provisions. Police is currently re-orientating its policy on flexible working to reflect the guidance. In undertaking this work a balance must be struck between existing legislative intent, the guidance received, and any individual agreement reached with employees and/or binding custom and practice. The majority of Police’s workforce (constabulary) have very limited ability to work flexibly/work from home. Police plans to have a new policy in place by February 2025 – subject to union engagement/consultation. In regard to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the SFO is currently in the process of reviewing its Flexible Working (Work From Home) Guidance.
