442 (2026). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Internal Affairs

442 (2026). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How often has Fire and Emergency New Zealand had to address equipment faults, including but not limited to locker/chassis cracks, intercooler faults, pump issues, and in the recent fit out of the MAN Type 3 firefighting trucks in the United Kingdom?
Hon Brooke van Velden: As advised in the House in response to Oral Parliamentary question 1 on 6 November 2025, Fire and Emergency inherited the current fault logging and tracking system, and it remains highly manual and dependent on staff interpretation. A full system replacement is planned for the next financial year to modernise how faults are reported, tracked, and resolved. It’s important to note that Fire and Emergency send multiple trucks to an incident, and a breakdown does not necessarily mean that there is a delay in getting firefighters and resources to that incident.
