434 (2026). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What month and year were Citizenship by Grant applications, that are currently having submissions written and reviewed by Department of Internal Affairs staff, submitted by applicants?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that it is currently drafting and reviewing submissions for 326 citizenship by grant applications (CBG). The breakdown by the applicants’ submission date is set out in the table attached. Some submissions take longer to prepare than others due to a range of factors. These include the complexity of the application, the reason(s) the applicant does not meet the requirements for citizenship, the need for external checks, the volume of information provided, and delays in applicants responding to or supplying requested information. The date the application was submitted to the Department is not necessarily reflective of the time the actual submission report takes to write. The processing and assessment of the application takes longer before getting to the point of a submission being written for the same reasons mentioned above.
