432 (2026). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What time frame does the Minister consider as delivering “good service” to Citizenship by Grant applicants?

Hon Brooke van Velden: As Minister, I place a high value on efficiency and the delivery of quality service. The timeframe for an applicant will vary depending on whether the applicant meets the standard requirements for a grant of citizenship or are seeking a discretionary grant. A sustained focus on delivering efficient government services has produced the shortest citizenship wait times in five years, and I am pleased with progress to date. The Department of Internal Affairs (Department) continues to report to me regularly. Applications take longer when applicants do not meet the standard requirements and the Department needs to prepare a submission report for my consideration.
