Written Question
Published date: 11 Feb 2026
394 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: What schools, if any, have received allocations from the $255 million accelerated funding for internal and external improvements on all isolated, small and rural schools that she announced on 22 September 2025 and for each such school what work was funded, when did that work begin and when was it scheduled to be completed?
Hon Erica Stanford: I refer the Member to the attached list of schools that have received funding for improvements to date. 57 schools received improvements funded by the accelerated funding to expand the Ngā Iti Kahurangi Small Schools Programme during the period 1 December 2025 to 30 January 2026. The scope of these improvements was in accordance with the Cabinet decision to make all schools warm, safe, and dry through improvements to school heating and flooring; and repairs to windows, doors and roofs (including flashings, gutters and downpipes) to ensure buildings are weathertight. Schools receive the improvements on a needs basis following a site condition assessment. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 395 (2026).
