390 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: How much, if any, of the $100 million accelerated funding over five years for urgent and essential infrastructure work that she announced on 22 September 2025 has been allocated to schools and how much has been spent?
Hon Erica Stanford: The $100 million will be allocated to schools in the next five-year agreement (5YA) cycle.
As schools will only receive a new 5YA budget when they reach a new cycle, the funding will be rolled out progressively over the next five years as each school reaches the end of its current cycle.
The 5YA is the Ministry of Education’s standard funding cycle for school property upgrades. Every state school receives a property budget that covers a five-year period, which they use for maintenance, repairs, and modernisation of their buildings.
To date, only a small number of schools have come up for renewal, with allocations totalling $0.33 million. None of this funding has been spent yet, as these schools are still in the early stages of planning their work programmes
