280 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Associate Minister of Justice: Why did the Minister not seek nominations from Police, Te Puni Kōkiri, the Māori Firearms Forum, MAAG members and the Arms Engagement Group for the appointment process of the Ministerial Arms Advisory Group (MAAG)?

Hon Nicole McKee: I was satisfied with the two candidates nominated by my colleagues as they filled the requirements on experience and expertise, as well as the membership balance between the firearm-owning community and the non-firearm-owning community, as determined by sections 90(1) and 90(2) of the Arms Act 1983.
