Hon Ginny Andersen to the Associate Minister of Justice: On what dates, if any, did she seek advice from the Cabinet Office about her potential conflicts of interest in the appointment process for new members of the Ministerial Arms Advisory Group (MAAG) and for each date, if any, what was the request made and what was the advice given?

Hon Nicole McKee: I had discussions with the Cabinet Office in July-August 2025 in relation to a potential conflict of interest in respect of the 2025 appointments to the MAAG. The relevant appointment decisions were made by Hon Goldsmith in order to avoid a potential perception of a conflict interest. Details of disclosures to the Cabinet Office of information relating to Ministerial conflicts of interest, and the Cabinet Office’s advice to Ministers about such interests, are inherently confidential and not disclosed. This has been the approach of successive administrations and I do not intend to depart from it.
