230 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Corrections: What actions, if any, has the Minister's departments or agencies, if any, made in implementing the Cabinet Office Circular titled "Impact-Analysis Requirement?"
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections has made no formal changes to implement the Cabinet Office Circular titled "Impact-Analysis Requirement as Corrections already complies with the standards contained in paragraphs 2.1, and 2.3 to 2.7 of the circular. I am further advised that paragraph 2.2 of the circular includes the new requirement that ‘government agencies are to contact the Ministry for Regulation as soon as possible after policy work commences on an issue that may result in a regulatory proposal being recommended to Cabinet’. Prior Cabinet Office circulars have also highlighted the importance of early engagement to support high quality impact analysis. As Corrections regularly engages with other agencies and departments in order to support impact analysis, engagement with the Ministry for Regulation will be incorporated into this existing practice.
