78 (2026). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Have any of the expected performance measurements, of response times and arrival times for incidents/emergencies that Fire and Emergency New Zealand attend to, changed since 2017; if so, which ones?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by Fire and Emergency that, since 2017, it has revised the expected performance targets for seven of its response time measures: · Structure fires (career crews): target reduced from 85% to 80 percent in 2020/2021 (arrival within 8 minutes). · Medical emergencies (volunteer crews): target reduced from 85% to 80% in 2020/21 (arrival within 11 minutes). · Rural incidents (Communication Centre dispatch): target increased from 80% to 85% in 2020/21 (dispatch within 120 seconds). · Hazardous substances incidents: target increased from 85% to 90% in 2025/26 (arrival with specialist crews within 60 minutes). · Motor vehicle accidents: target increased from 90% to 92.5% in 2025/26 (arrival with specialist resources within 30 minutes). · Other non-medical emergencies: median response time target reduced from 30 minutes to 10 minutes in 2025/2026. · Non-transport rescue incidents: Median response time target reduced from 30 minutes to 10 minutes in 2025/2026.
