32 (2025). Hon Phil Twyford to the Minister of Immigration: What advice, if any, has the minister received on the potential impact on rent prices related to the changes to the visitor visa announced on January 27th 2025?

Hon Erica Stanford: None. It is not anticipated that there will be a noticeable effect on long term accommodation demand, given the visitor visa duration restrictions still apply. The normal maximum duration of a general visitor visa is 6-9 months, and it must then be balanced by 6-9 months outside New Zealand.
