Camilla Belich to the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery: Where, if anywhere, has the New Zealand Emergency Management Assistance Team been deployed since its establishment; and which region, local authority, or Civil Defence Emergency Management Group was supported in each case?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that, since its establishment in 2019 the New Zealand Emergency Management Assistance Team has been deployed to provide support to the following regions: • Upper North Island severe weather, supporting Northland and partner agencies: January 2026 • Southland severe weather, supporting Invercargill: October 2025 • Otago flooding, supporting Dunedin and Clutha: October 2024 • Northland severe weather supporting Northland: May 2023 • Auckland Anniversary Day floods, supporting Auckland: February 2023 • North Island Severe Weather Event, supporting Hawkes Bay and Tairāwhiti: February - March 2023 • South Island severe weather, supporting West Coast and Nelson-Tasman: August 2022 • West Coast flooding supporting Westport: July 2021 • COVID-19, supporting National Crisis Management Centre and Queenstown: March - May 2020 • Southland flooding, supporting Southland: February 2020 • Franz Josef flooding, supporting West Coast: December 2019
